"...Harriet (Hattie) was born October 14, 1876, in Eskridge, Kansas. She was an artist, a naturalist and a housewife. For many of the years when she was raising a young family, she did commercial dying for the major department stores in the city of Topeka to augment the income from the dry cleaning business operated by her husband...Harriet Ruth died November 22, 1959 while visiting her daughter, Betty Jean, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is buried in Mount Hope Cemetary."

James T. Hamilton
Obituary - The Franklin Evening Star - Franklin, Johnson, Ind. - dtd Monday, March 25, 1918
  "James T. Hamilton Dead.
   James T. Hamilton, long one of the best know citizens of Franklin, but who has been living at Indianapolis for a number of years, died at his home in that city Sunday morning at the age of seventy-seven years. The funeral services will be held this evening at 7:30 o'clock at the residence, 767 North Warman Avenue. the burial will be at Franklin, the funeral party arriving here about 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning.
   Mr. Hamilton is survived by his wife and ten children. The children are Mrs. Mel McClain, Mrs. Lige [Elijah] Stevens and Mrs. Charles Legan, of this city, Mrs. Will Green, Mrs. Flo Coon, Mrs. Jesse Alread, Otto, Elzie, Peter and Will Hamilton, all of Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton had been married over sixty years and in the rearing of this large family of children this is the first death in the immediate family.
   He also leaves a brother, Robert Hamilton, south of town, and a sister, Mrs. Martha McNutt, of Osceola, Ill. Another sister, Mrs. Nancy Vandivier, of Franklin, died last fall.
   Mr. Hamilton was born in this county and spent the greater part of his life in and near Franklin. He served as a soldier in the Civil War and was a member of Co. E, 7th Reg. Indiana Infantry. For many years he had been a member of the Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the First Baptist church of Franklin.
   Until the last few years when advanced age brought about infirmaries, he had enjoyed unusual hearty health."

Clara Hamilton

   p. 39 "The bride, born in February 1861, was a daughter of Harrison Luyster's cousin, James T. Hamilton. Clara was first married to Elijah Griffith by whom she had two children that were dead before 1900. Her second marriage occurred on 2 June 1895 to Charles Smith whom she divorced eight months later. After a year of marriage to Harrison Luyster she was persuaded to join the Franklin Presbyterian Ch. on 9 Sep 1900."
   p. 41 "Shortly after Captain Luyster's death, Clara Luyster filed for a widow's pension, but this claim was abandoned, and she married Elijah Stevens. Clara Stevens died on 26 December 1925 and was buried in Franklin's Greenlawn Cemetery."

  "First of Family of Ten Dies Saturday -- Mrs. Elijah Stevens, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jams. Hamilton
   Mrs. Clara Hamilton Stevens, wife of Elijah Stevens, died Saturday morning at 3:30 o'clock at her home, 849 North Hurrican Street, as a result of a paralytic stroke. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at ten o'clock from the late home. Burial in Greenlawn cemetery.
   Mrs. Stevens was a daughter of James and Ellen (Mary Ellen Demaree) Hamilton and was born near Morgantown 64 years ago. She was one of a family of ten children and her death is the first among the children. The parents have been dead for several years.
   She was thrice married. Her first marriage was to Elijah Griffith to which union two children were born. Mr. [Elijah] Griffith and both children preceded her in death. She was next married to H. H. Luyster, a well known citizen for many years, former mayor and marshal of Franklin, and following his death she was married to Mr. Stevens. [Note: No mention of her 2nd marriage and divorce to Charles Smith.]
   Mrs. Stevens had lived in this community her entire life. She was a member of the Franklin Presbyterian church.
   The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. Melvin McClain and Mrs. Charles Legan of Franklin; Ellsworth Hamilton, Peter Hamilton, William Hamilton, Mrs. Flora Coon and Mrs.. Jesse Aldred of Indianpolis; Mrs. William Green of near Morgantown and Otto Hamilton of Mooresville.
   Friends desiring to call at the home are invited to do so at any time before the funeral hour."

  "Death of Mrs. Clara Stevens
   Mrs. Clara Stevens, age 64, wife of Elijah Stevens, died early Saturday morning at her home in this city following a stroke of paralysis. She was born near Morgantown, but had spent the greater part of her life in Franklin. She is survived by her husband, five sisters and four brothers. They are Mrs. Melvin McClain and Mrs. Charles Legan of Franklin, Mrs. Flora Coon and Mrs. Jesse Alred of Indianapolis, Mrs. Wm. Green of Morgantown, Peter and Wm. Hamilton of Indianpolis, and Otto Hamilton of Mooresville. Funeral services were held in this city Tuesday morning.
   Mrs. Stevens was first married to Elijah Griffith, who with two children preceded her in death. She was the wife of H. H. Luyster, who was a prominent citizen of Franklin during his life. She then was married to Elijah Stevens and lived on North Hurrican street at thetime of her death."
