Francelia Celestia Young  -Brown  -Carr
(1st husband was Charles Preston Brown)

Obituary. The Otsego Journal dtd. 13 Oct 1898
"Mrs. Francelia C. Carr died at the home of her cousin, Mrs. J. Olin, in Hudson, South Dakota, Sept. 23, 1898 at the age of 65 yrs, 10 m, 8 days.
Mrs. Carr was born in northern New York November 15, 1832. She was twice married and was the mother of seven children, two of whom were present at her death and burial. Her first husband was Chas. Brown who had a responsible position in the United States service during the Civil War and died in the hospital. Her second husband was Samuel Carr, who died at Morris, NY December 24, 1897.
During her early life Mrs. Carr was much devoted to literary and educational pursuits. She taught school in early life and enjoyed more than an average education. She became identified with the cause of Christ while yet young, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. Later she joined the Christian church by reason of being distantly located from the church of her choice, and she was a faithful member of the Christian church up to the end of her days.
She came to this locality about two months ago to visit her cousin and other friends. She soon identified herself with Christian and cultured people and took a deep interest in things laudable and elevating. Her religious influence was soon felt in the Sunday school and church and her genial and unobtrusive and gentle manner won for her a warm heart in the bosom of everyone with whom she came in contact. Her funeral took place from the Methodist church last Sunday morning, was conducted by Rev. A. Jamieson and attended by a large crowd of people, the Congregational church dismissing services to attend. -- Hudson South Dakota, Tribune"

Augusta C. Welch  -Oren  -Seelye
Obituary. (I do not know the newspaper name or date of article.)
AUGUSTA C. SEELYE--A message was received here Tuesday forenoon telling of the death at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eber Seelye, at Huntington, Iowa, of Mrs. Augusta Seelye at one o'clock that morning.
Mrs. Seelye with her daughter, Minnie Viola, had gone there a couple of weeks ago for a short visit, expecting to have returned home the later part of the past week. Mrs. Seelye was taken ill Saturday evening Oct. 24. A doctor was called but didn't think it anything serious. Sunday and Monday she seemed to improve and she asked her daughter, who had been taking care of her, to go to bed and get some rest as she was all right. Miss Seelye laid down at about 10:30 and immediately went to sleep. She awoke about one o'clock and went in to see her mother, only to find her dead. Miss Seelye arrived here on Wednesday morning with the remains and they were taken to their home here. The funeral services were held from the house at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, and the M. E. church at 2:00 o'clock, from where they were taken to Hesper for burial beside the remains of her husband, Justus Seelye. Rev. Mettam gave a very helpful sermon from Thessalonians, the 4th chapter and 13th verse. Augusta C. Welch was born in Keene, Essex county, N.Y., May 22, 1846.
At 4 years of age her mother died [20 Feb 1850], leaving her with four sisters and two brothers. Her father married again later and to this union two girls were born, both of whom are still living. She moved to Minnesota in 1860, settling in this vicinity, where she has since made her home. In December 1862, she was married to Mr. Alexander Oren, who died July 29,1866, leaving her with one child, Edith, now Mrs. Ace Seelye of Burr Oak. On October 22, 1870, she was married to Mr. Justus Seelye and they began housekeeping on the farm, part of which is one of the residence sections of Mabel village. Mr. Seelye died on March 2, 1902, leaving one daughter, Miss Minnie Viola Seelye, who with her half sister, Mrs. Ace Seelye survives to mourn the loss of a devoted mother and friend, Mrs. Seelye was loved and respected by all as was shown by the large concourse of friends who turned out to pay their last respects, and the many floral tributes.
Among the out of town friends we noticed Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Porter of Burr Oak and Mrs. Ella Anderson of Prosper.

George Jacob Keezel
Known as Jacob.
Died of tuberculosis.
Visited Maple Grove Cem. with Harvey and Lu Mayer on 19 May 1997. Saw Keezel's stone. It is a 4-sided oblisk with his name only engraved. Stone reads: Geo. J. Keezel May 2, 1884 39 yrs. He is buried to the right of his wife Carrie and her 2nd husband, Sherman Young.
In the marriage data at Gilbertsville NY, G. Jacob is identified as from Lecompton KS, and a Graduate of Lane University, Kansas.
DID NOT FIND IN 1880 KS FED SOUNDEX ~ need to check Colorado.

From Roy Keezel, g grandson, personal knowledge:
Jacob went to Trinidad, Colorado to get well. He never returned. I think he was about 39. He was very successful and left Carrie with several farms. (That was a medium of exchange then.)
Lane Univ was near Eskridge. In fact, I think it was in Eskridge. It closed and a Keezel cousin, a PhD from Ohio, left there and went to Oregon. I have some stuff on Lane at home.
ACTUALLY, LANE UNIV. WAS IN LECOMPTON.
